Payment with upfront and annual mortgage insurance. Change the numbers and the result updates instantly.
How it works
An FHA loan is a mortgage insured by the Federal Housing Administration. It allows a down payment as low as 3.5% with a credit score of 580 or more. In return you pay mortgage insurance: an upfront premium of 1.75% of the loan (usually added to the loan) and an annual premium, about 0.55% of the loan for many borrowers, paid monthly.
Example
Example: a $350,000 home with 3.5% down is a loan of about $337,750 before the upfront premium. At 6.25% for 30 years, principal and interest is roughly $2,100 a month, plus the annual premium, property tax and insurance. Check current FHA loan limits and premium rates with HUD.
Tips
