Retirement Calculator
How much you need and whether you are on track. Change the numbers and the result updates instantly.
How it works
This calculator projects your savings to retirement age, then compares them with the amount you need. It uses the 4% rule of thumb: you can withdraw about 4% of your portfolio in the first year of retirement. Needed savings = (desired monthly income - Social Security) x 12 / 0.04.
Example
Estimate Social Security at ssa.gov/myaccount. Inflation, taxes and health costs make real retirement more complex, so treat the result as a guide.
Tips
- Change one input at a time to see what moves the result most.
- Use realistic rates. Check current averages before you decide.
- Results are estimates and do not replace advice from a licensed professional.
